Week 3 Scotland, London and Paris

Sunday was quite odd I flew from Northern Ireland to Edinburgh Scotland. The flight was delayed and we couldn’t get to the gate when we landed. Apparently there was something happening on the taxi way so we were stuck in the plane for over an hour on the ground. So that was not ideal by any means. I was texting Sam that I will be there in 30 min little did I know it was going to be be almost 2 hours. The worst part is that i was very hungry and haven’t eaten all day because i figured i would be there in 2 hours from leaving Belfast, OHHH boy i was wrong.

I finally got to Sam’s place and we got some food and drinks at this little place just down the street from his place. We had a fantastic lunch and it was great to catch up and chat. We walked around this area called the royal mile, there is a bunch of stores and pubs up and down this street. We tried to go up and see the Edinburgh castle but it was closed due to the fact that the fringe festival wrapping up. This festival is the largest open-access performing arts festival held every year in Edinburgh. So that was really cool to see.

We eventually made it home Sunday night and Monday was a great day i got up and got some food. I have realized that Europe is not place for breakfast. I have found it impossible to find a breakfast place. So Monday i had a chicken sandwich that was very underwhelming. I walked around and got lost for about 3 hours. So I figured if i can see the castle or the cathedral i can get my way home i did a full 360 and couldn’t see anything so i knew i had to go head up hill. So i started walking and kept walking and kept walking i started to get nervous that I was heading the wrong way but bam I ended up on this street that i knew how to get home from. The funny thing is that i was very hungry but couldn’t eat until i found my way home. So when i was heading home i stoped and got a burrito so that was one hard earned burrito. It was fun to walk around Edinburgh the architecture is crazy and everything is so old and hilly. It was the coolest city I have been in so far.

later on Monday Sam i and we went on a hike it was the highest mountain in the city of Edinburgh so that’s not saying much but it was still very cool. There is 2 peaks one is more of a flat one and the other is an actual peak that was much higher than the first peak. It was cool to hike them and chat with Sam. We thought of the genius idea to just bush wack up the side of the mountain, that was one bad idea. We were just walking through thorn bushes and scrambling up rocks for a good 200 yards that was the longest 200 yards of my life. We eventually ran into the trail and decide to stick to it all the way to the top that was the best decision we could have made.

Later that night we hit the town and went to a fringe show with one of Sam’s friends, this show was a cocktail tasting that was super interactive and very fun how they displayed it. I would 100% recommend it for anyone that is going to see a fringe show.

The next day was by for my favorite day on this trip we went to St. Andrew’s this was the birth place of golf. And this was so cool to see the first ever golf course built. We also went to the St. Andrew’s castle and walked around that for a little while. Then we headed to the St. Andrew’s cemetery and old Tom Morris was buried there so that was super cool to see.

Sam and I played the mini golf course at St. Andrew’s so i can at least say I played St. Andrew’s golf course. So i can tick that off the old bucket list. But if i was able to play the old course i would never let anyone hear the end of it.

We hoped on the train back home with a few cold beverages in us. That made the train go by a little faster and when we got back to Edinburgh we decided to get some food and hit the town one last night.

The next morning i hoped on train and headed down to London for a quick 2 night stay. London was extremely underwhelming I thought it was going to be way different I’m not sure if it was just the part of town i was staying in or what but it didn’t fell very safe and just overall not the greatest experience. So that was not ideal however it was cool to see Big Ben, the bridge, London eye and Buckingham Palais. Other than that i was not overly impressed with it.

My first 2 days in Paris have been an absolute blast. I got in at 3 o’clock from a nightmare of a train ride and train experience from London. I got settled in and got all my stuff arranged and started to explore the town And see the Eiffel Tower. I had a river cruise booked at 8:45 to go up and down the seine river. So I figured I better start heading that way just in case I got lost or anything. I kinda got duped on this cruise thing the picture of it when I booked it looked like a massive boat but this boat was nothing like advertised but never the less it was still fun. I had a glass of wine it was a very enjoyable experience.

I met up with some people from the hostel app at a bar close to the Effie tower and we sat and talked for a few hours and eventually made it home. it was so surreal to see the Eiffel Tower. He see in movies and pictures but nothing really does it justice when you’re under it and it’s lit up. It’s definitely one of the coolest things you can see.

yesterday I had a pretty packed day. I went to the louvre walked to the big archway and walked around for six hours just sightseeing and seeing everything I could. I saw the Mona Lisa it was cool but I’m not much of an art person so it really doesn’t do much for me. It was definitely cool to see everything that they had to offer. It’s definitely a little strange how a group of people broke in and install millions of dollars worth of diamonds.

I pretty much just walked around the rest of the day till night time the group of people I met Friday night we decided we were gonna have a picnic at the Eiffel Tower so that was super fun to sit with them and chat with a few bottles of wine.

Stock up stock down

Stock up Sam for letting me stay with him that was so Nice for him to let me stay in his place. He showed me around town and just made the Scotland experience phenomenal. Stock down Air Lingus and the Edinburgh airport just so unorganized and a horrible experience. Stock up A gentleman I sat next to on my flight to Edinburgh just the nicest man and we talked the whole 55 minutes we were stuck on the ground in the Edinburgh airport. Stock down The French customs at the London train station they tell you to go one way and then someone else tells you to go the opposite way there’s no order.

What’s next

when I leave Paris, I’m headed to Brussels for a few nights then to the Netherlands I might go to the Solheim cup for Golf and then to Sweden. That’s kind of a tentative plan, but we’ll see where the wind blows me
