Week 6 back to Germany and October fest

My last day in Prague was Sunday and i took it pretty slow. I woke up got some food and went to town to see the Prague castle and the area around it. It’s kinda cool because in the castle walls there is a bunch of shops, a giant church and of course the castle. I got board of walking around so i went to go get Some check food. This food was so good it was roasted lamb with potatoes and a salad. It was absolutely phenomenal .

After i ate I went home because i knew football was going to be starting soon so i was looking forward to that. I watched football all night long and there was this little Shawarma place right by the hostel and it was sooo good and it was relatively cheap so i was so excited to have that for dinner while watching football ball. I stayed up all night to watch the broncos i would have been so mad if I stayed up just to watch them lose. But they won so I was thrilled about that.

On Monday morning I jumped on a train towards Munich and made a stop in regensburg Germany its just over half way from Prague to Munich. I stoped there because i didn’t want to be on the train for 7 hours. And i had to spend a few days before Munich because my reservations were for Wednesday to Friday. This was a cute little town on the south east side of germany. I got in late Monday and walked around for a little while and was just so tired for no reason. I was in bed by 8:30.

I got to Munich and was trying to figure out how to get to the place i was staying and I wouldn’t call this place i stayed at a hosel it was more of a field with hundreds of tents set up. Granted i knew what I signed up for i just didn’t realize it was so far out of town and the closets restaurant was a 25 minute walk or you had to wait for the bus so i was not thrilled about that. Granted the atmosphere was amazing everyone that worked there was so nice and helpful but it was just to far from town.

I got checked in and dropped my stuff off and headed towards town to explore i was supposed to meet someone but there flight got delayed so i was just exploring by myself. Munich was definitely my favorite city i visited in Germany everything was so clean and put together with beautiful architecture and great people. I explored for a few hours and finally decided to head home and get my outfit for Oktoberfest.

I got my outfit and was charging my phone when i met some people that wanted to go downtown to the festival so we went and this is where the night took a turn for the worst. We walked into the festival and walked into a few tents just seeing what it’s all about we found a tent that had standing tables and beer service so we hung around there for a little. We each had 2 stines of beer and went inside because it was getting cold. We ordered the 3rd stone and that is where it went downhill. After the second stine I felt fine and it was just another night. Then i dint remember anything until it was 11:45 and I was in the middle of the city with my phone not working and just felling awful. I kept trying to pull up directions on my phone and just nothing was working so i was getting really nervous that I would just never make it home. I finally just got a taxi to take me back because i was a good 5 miles out of town so there was just no way i could walk home. The only thing I can think of is i got roofied because one minute i was fine the next i was in the middle of Munich with no memory and i got split up from the group. This was actually the worst situation i have been in and was very scary because my phone wouldn’t work and I don’t speak German and I have never been there before.

I made it home around 1:30 i think and went to bed and slept until 10:30. Mind you there is no food nearby but luckily at the check in desk they were selling breakfast sandwiches so that was a life saver. Thursday i just slept all day and felt sick the entire day i went to bed at 7:30 and slept all night long. It was very cold luckily they gave you a sleeping bag and mat. I was in the sleeping bag and got so cold i was using my towel as a pillow but then got smart and covered my head with it, in hopes it would keep my body’s heat in and keep me warm. Luckily it did until I woke up at 8 and got packed up to leave. I was Very disappointed to miss my Thursday at Oktoberfest but what can you do.

I got to the train station a few hours early just in case anything happened and i was just ready to leave. I hoped on the train heading to Vienna Austria for 3 nights. I got check in around 3 and was starving so i just found the closest place to my hostel and it was the Afghanistan place that was pretty good. Early in the day I signed up for a pub crawl at 9 but a big group of was was going to get dinner at 7:30. After lunch i got showered and took a little nap. We met at this pizza place right next to the first bar so that was super convenient. There was a bunch of us at this pizza place and everyone was so nice there were a few Germans, one Brazilian, one Canadian, 2 brits and a few Americans. Everyone was great we had a nice dinner and went to the pub crawl.

This pub crawl seamed kinda thrown together it was just a very different style of pub crawl. There were no wrist bands and just kinda unorganized. I’m not sure how to explain it but it was very different. The first bar was an Irish one with a huge basement and tons of artwork on the wall so that kinda reminded me of the LVL. The second one was more of a club feel nothing too special but was cool. The third one was an underground club type deal with more of techno music the place was super cool but the music was not ideal. The last place was awesome it was a club but the entrance looked like you were going into the subway. The entrance was right next to the Oprah house you would never know a club was there unless you knew. It had a main area with dem style music. Then it had 2 other rooms through what looked like exit doors. The second room was more techno so I didn’t spend any time there. The last room was house music and this room was so much fun the music was phenomenal. I met a few people on the pub crawl so we kinda stuck together all night. It was a great atmosphere and the people i met made it even better.

On Saturday I work up at 7 i was not thrilled about that but oh well. The 3 hours of sleep was not ideal. I got some breakfast and hung in my room until 11. I was planing on meeting one the people i met on the pub crawl at the schonbrunn palace at 11:30. Of course i was on time and of course they were late so i just walked around the grounds for an hour. They had pro equestrian tour going on. It like the PGA tour but equestrian I didn’t know this until i showed up. So the ground were packed but still free to enter and walk around. The palace grounds are massive it takes forever to walk from the entrance to the garden. It was cool to see but not my gig. Lauren finally showed up and we walked around for a good hour and decided to get on the train and head towards the main area of Vienna.

We went to the main area and kept walking around there are so many parks and giant beautiful buildings. They were having this giant festival for all sports and it was literally all sports from skate boarding to gymnastics they even had bungee jumping from a crane. It was really cool to see, we hung around there for 30 minutes and got some food and kept walking around. We ran into the St. Stephen’s cathedral.

After all the exploring I was exhausted I went home took a shower and a nap. Woke up at 7 for dinner and back to bed. It was quite the relaxing night.

Stock up stock down

Stock down the false advertising for the camp close to the festival. Stock down getting roofied. Stock up the people at the camp just wonderful people and so nice and helpful. Stock up the people on the bar crawl in Vienna Austria, most of them were solo travelers and were just great people.

What’s next?

I am heading to Budapest on Monday and I’m not sure if I am going to Switzerland or a small town in the west of Austria but I will be in either town or both for a few days.
