Week 8 Croatia

on Sunday I was planing on exploring the city but the weather was so nice I decided to go to the beach. I asked some people that were staying in my hostel where a good breach is and they gave me one that was a 30 min walk away so that was not great to hear but the second they said they had a beach bar i knew i had to go there. I started to walk there and it was kinda through a sketchy part of the area so i kept telling my self that I was going to uber back. I got to the beach around 10 and finished my week 7 blog. I had to treat my self with a beer for all my hard work at 10:30, i mean it 5 o’clock somewhere am i right?

This beach was so pretty and with the most clear water you could imagine it was crazy. I was expecting the water to be cold but it was a very comfortable temperature to my surprise. They had a rope to keep people in and animals out i think, so i swam out to that and just admired the water and the perfect weather. I was told there was another few beaches with in 10 minutes by foot. So after while i headed to them but they were nothing great by any means. They were not really beached more just concrete platforms with a few ladders and rocks. So I walked to them and turned right back a round and headed back to the first one I was at. I was there all day long just siting around soaking up the sun and getting in the water when i got too hot.

I left the beach 3 on the hunt for a grocery store. Trying to find a store open on a Sunday is very difficult i went to 3 different ones that said they were open but none of them were luckily the last one i went to before i gave up was open but by the time i found a store and got back home it was 4:30. I walked around for an hour and a half in flip flops, if you have ever done that before you will know it’s just shy of hell. I was expecting it to be a quick thing but i was wrong once again, i was so mad in that store but i got 3 meals, 2 bottles of wine and a bag to shlep my stuff home for 25 bucks so i was pretty happy. I got home and started watching the London game i was so happy i could watch football when i got home, and it wasn’t 7 at night. I made some dinner and watched football all night long. BUT the broncos game cut out so i went to bed. Granted im not too mad I didn’t watch the broncos lose. So it was a win win, i got sleep and I didn’t watch the broncos lose.

On Monday i had some chores to do, by chores i mean laundry. This is probably the worst thing to do. I know it doesn’t sound like a lot of work it but it kinda is you have to find a laundromat close then sit there for a few hours to make sure no one takes your stuff then you have to fold everting not to mention the washers and dryer are in a different language so you are kinda just guessing on the buttons and no two machines are the same. Most of them you have to change the money to tokens and you never have exact change so you have to got a coffee shop to get a coffee just to get change so you have exact change. It’s just a lot of work just for laundry.

After my “chores” i walked around for a few hours i was just wondering around this city is not very big so after an hour i was board. I ached chat GPT what are the best things to do and it told me to go to a castle. I looked it up and the castle was a 40 minute walk or a 35 min bus ride so i just figured I should walk just to see more of the city. I started to walk and on maps it gave a little stairs icon. I thought how bad can they be, they were bad it was probably 600 stairs to this castle at that moment i was re thinking my choice to ride the bus. But i walked up them it was kinda through a sketchy part of town but i made it to the castle. It was kinda underwhelming but cool to see i guess. The castle had a great view and was free so that was nice. I explored it for 30 minutes and headed back down the stairs towards town. I got hungry so i got some lunch at this street food place, i was expecting real street food but it was just kebab. Which is essentially Middle east chicken with a bunch of vegetables in a tortilla. It was very good but i wanted some fries with ketchup and mayo. I have never had fries with ketchup and mayo before i came to Europe but it is so good. After lunch i went home and just hung around for a few hours until dinner time. When i went to the store a few days earlier i got enough food for a few meals so I made dinner at the hostel. I had a bottle of wine with my egg and ham breakfast sandwich. I was a odd combo but definitely good. I didn’t do anything that nigh besides sit around and do nothing. It was quite the relaxing night before I went to bed.

On Tuesday i got up early to get on a bus to head down to Zadar Croatia. The bus was just over 3 hours and was very pretty. I got to zadar and my hostel was a 25 min walk or a 26 min bus ride so i just took the bus. I got there but it wasn’t time to check in, luckily they had luggage storage so i put my bags away and just walked around the city for a while, I walked along the water for a while then got some lunch at a pizza place close to my hostel while i waited for check in time.

I got checked in and didn’t do much i hung around the hostel then i got board and decided to go to the beach. The closest beach was a 30 min walk but it was very pretty because the walk was long the marina and ocean so I didn’t mind walking. I was at the beach for an a hour or so and got hungry again so i went home and we got a discount at the restaurant under the hostels so i went there for dinner. I got grilled squid and it was not good at all, whatever rabbit food they paired with it was not good. So that dinner was quite disappointing. After dinner i went home and hung around until i went to bed.

My first full day there I got some breakfast at the hostel. Andy this was the best breakfast i have had all trip. We got to order off the menu, i got an English breakfast it was so good and very filling. I was so happy i booked the breakfast because it was so worth it. I went home and to kinda crazy story. But some girl i met in solviena on the first night i was there was staying at the same hostel and same room so i ran into her when i walked in, it was such a small world type thing. She asked me what i had planed for the day and I didn’t have anything planed. She was looking on this all called get your guide and there was a boat tour with unlimited wine for 30 euros, that sounded like a great deal so we singed up for it at 2. I had about 4 hours to kill so i walked around the town for a while and got a coffee.

We got to this boat tour and we weren’t sure what to expect and this boat was a speed boat that apparently the Australia coast guard uses. This boat was sick and could MOVE. We made 3 stops, the first one was a little island that is the smallest inhabited island in all of Croatia and there are a lot of small island around here so that is saying something. We got off the boat and there was a beach that was a 5 minute walk from the boat so some of us went to the beach and others went to explore the island. The boat came with snorkels and and masks, for thoes of us that went to the beach we all snorkeled and had a great time. We were there for an hour before we went back to the boat to get some wine and ready to go to the next place.

Stop two was a small fisherman village where they had a restaurant right by the marina. The boat caption recommend we get something to eat there because the last stop was more of a big city and the food was going to be way more expensive. I got fried prons the girl in the hostel got tuna suers and someone we met on the boat got fired fish. I’m not exactly sure what it was but it was very good. After lunch we went back to the boat for some more free wine, and off to the third and final stop.

The last stop was pretty boring it was a smaller city but everthing was closed because it was out of the main season. So we went to the grocery store and got some drinks because we couldn’t find the boat caption and didn’t want to look through his stuff to find the wine. We made it back to the main land and all went back home to get changed and showered because we all made a plan to meet up later and get some drinks for this one girls 21st birthday that was on the boat.

Thursday I got up for breakfast and didn’t do anything it was raining all day long so that kinda put a damper on things. For the 20 minutes it stoped i walked to the sea organ and it was on the pier when waves crashed into the pier it pushed air through theses holes and it made “music” i would call them more sounds than music. I got some dinner and went to bed it was a very relaxing day.

Friday i had a bus booked to split which is just Down the coast. I had a hard time deciding where I should go next because there are really no trains in Eastern Europe so everything is bus and takes so much longer and the farther south i went i would just have to go back north towards Switzerland. So i just decided a 13 hour bus ride was for another problem on another day. It was funny because the same girl in my hostel was on the same bus to split that i was on and so were two other people in the same room it was wild we all showed up to the bus stop and saw each other getting on the same bus to split.

On Friday night After i got to split i got checked and took a shower before i needed some food. I walked to get some food then came home and hung around for a few hours. Then i met some people for some drinks and food later in the day. We hug out for a few hour before we all went to a club. Here in split its the down season and nothing is open so it kinda unfortunate.

On Saturday i woke up got some food, there was a big group of us planing on going on a party boat but they cancelled it due to weather so that was super disappointing. It rained all day here on Saturday so i did nothing. I just sat at home and started that new Saban show. That was the highlight of my day.

Stock up/ stock down

Stock up zadar that place was so fun and everyone was so nice and helpful. Stock down the weather in split this place would be so much fun in the summer with great weather and things being open. Stock down this bus ride i am going to have to experience on Monday. Stock up the hostel in zadar it was one of the nicest hostels I have ever stayed in and every clean. Stock down the bugs here, they have mosquitoes but are so small you can’t see them. Stock up my roommates in zadar. Stock up the boat caption we had in zadar he was amazing.

What’s next?

On Monday I have a 13 hour overnight bus ride to Innsbruck. I leave at 4 and get in at 5am then i have to get on a train to Innsbruck. I am not looking forward to that at all but we will make it happen. I think after Innsbruck i am going to go to Switzerland for a few days, then make my way to Italy for a week or so. It but time will tell where I end up.
